Snapchat & On-Demand Geofilters: Overlay your pictures
Do you have a Snapchat account? Do you use On-Demand Geofilters?
Chances are you don’t but now is the time to take the app seriously. Snapchat has over 100 million daily active users. The demographic of users is in the 18-34 age range.
In Februrary,Snapchat introduced On-Demand Geofilters. Geofilters are location based overlays that users can apply to their Snaps. Use a Geofilter for an event, business, or specific location. I had one made for my daughter’s 1st Birthday party. Guests could take pictures, add the filter, and send to their friends on the app. It was a fun way to take pictures. Check out one of my favorite photos below.
The banner that reads Tavi, square confetti, and the #1 balloon are the overlay filter. The overlay was sketched out, uploaded and finished using Photoshop. The final image was submitted to Snapchat and an approval process took place. Once it was approved, a geofence was put around the location of the party and the date and time set. Easy peasy, right? Snapchat has easy to follow step-by-step directions on their website. (Helpful Hint: You do have to have an account in order to proceed with uploading process.)
In addition to On-Demand geofilters, Snapchat also offers community filters. As an individual (not a business) you can submit a free community geofilter for a city, university, local landmark, or another public location, however no brand logos allowed. In my opinion, On-Demand geofilters will suit the business world better, but it does have a fee. Filters start at $5.oo.
By having a Snapchat account for business, it is perfect for real-time social media marketing, giving direct access to live events, special content, surprise content, contests, and promotions.
